For much of my childhood, I accompanied my brother to countless doctor appointments and hospital visits. His hospital visits were never ending marathons of waiting, treatments and more waiting. We tried to entertain each other, but most of the time it was pretty monotonous. During one hospital visit, a volunteer came to his room and gave him a present. It was a monopoly game! We ripped it open and began playing. That experience led us to start a chapter of the birthday giving program in our town. We have made countless birthday bags and donated them to The Izzy Foundation hoping to bring some cheer to children in the hospital helping them pass the time with fun games and activities. I am looking forward to getting more involved with The Izzy Foundation through the Junior Advisory Board.
