Academic Scholarships

The Izzy Foundation offers academic scholarships to children Nationwide across the United States who have been diagnosed with or treated for PEDIATRIC CANCER and their siblings. The Izzy Foundation provides scholarships in two categories: (1) Grades K-12 and (2) College.

The Izzy Foundation awards $500 scholarships to approved students each academic year for up to three (3) years, provided all eligibility requirements continue to be met.

Scholarship funds are distributed only for the 2nd semester of the academic year and are mailed no later than January 31st of each year. Funds are sent directly to the Bursar’s Office of the recipient’s accredited college or university, and cannot be issued directly to the student.

(Please note: Applications that are incomplete will NOT be considered for a scholarship). Letters of status will be emailed by the Foundation on/or by July 19th. If accepted to receive an award, you MUST fill out an Acceptance Form (provided in your status email) no later than August 31st or your award will be forfeited.

College Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Please complete this application only if you will be entering college for the upcoming school year.

Applicants MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current pediatric cancer patient, childhood cancer survivor, and/or sibling under the age of 25. Bereaved siblings are welcome to apply.
  • Pediatric cancer patients and survivors must have been diagnosed with cancer by the age of 18.
  • Be a United States citizen currently living in the United States and attending school within the country.
  • Be enrolled in, or accepted for enrollment in, an accredited undergraduate college or university.
  • Remain enrolled and attending school during the second semester of the academic year, as scholarship funds are distributed by January 31st and apply only to the second semester.
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or employer.
  • Submit a photo of applicant
  • Submit a student-written essay of 500 words describing your academic and career goals and why you chose to apply to The Izzy Foundation.
  • Applicants will also have the option to submit a video, artwork, or another form of artistic expression explaining their academic and career goals.

Elementary & High School Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Please complete this application only if you will be entering grades K–12 for the upcoming school year.

Applicants MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current pediatric cancer patient, childhood cancer survivor, and/or sibling under the age of 25. Bereaved siblings are welcome to apply.
  • Pediatric cancer patients and survivors must have been diagnosed with cancer by the age of 18.
  • Be a United States citizen currently living in the United States and attending school within the country.
  • Submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or employer.
  • Submit a photo of applicant
  • Students (Grades 9-12) must submit a 250-word essay, written by the student applicant, describing their academic goals and explaining why they chose to apply to The Izzy Foundation.
  • Younger students (Grades K–8) may submit a drawing, artwork, or a short video introducing themselves, sharing a little about their family, and telling us about their interests, dreams, or goals in place of the essay.
