Thomas Harrington is a 17-year-old honors student at Portsmouth High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the language Honors Society. He is a well-rounded drummer, performing with many groups including, the PHS Jazz Band, the PHS Marching Band, The Mystic Pipes Band, and the United Congregational Church of Little Compton Youth Band. In addition, he has enjoyed being a part of some community theater productions. He works as a Counselor, Instructor, and Stable Hand at Adamsville Stables, and he also does landscaping, painting, and gardening as side jobs.
Thomas is a two-time survivor of Ewing Sarcoma and has undergone chemotherapy, radiation, and many surgeries. Since his first remission, he has dedicated himself to giving back to the community. He has traveled to San Antonio Texas and Portland Maine to participate in week-long service projects. He has also partaken in many homelessness awareness sleep outs and has raised over $3,000 for local organizations benefiting the homeless. Thomas loves being a part of the Izzy Foundation Jr. Advisory Board as he found the Izzy Family Room to be a place of comfort when he was undergoing cancer treatment at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. He looks forward to continuing his work with the Izzy Foundation Jr. Advisory Board.
